candy garden

today is a BIIIIG day for us... our baby girl is being registered for kindergarten *sniff!* we need to pick up her medical records and gather her birth certificate, social security number and proof of residence and take it ALLLLLL up to the school. it's actually kind-of a challenge to put all this stuff together and schlep it around! i feel as if we're signing her away or something.

i went to the county school bored *ahem* i mean BOARD meeting last night. it was their meeting witht he county commissioners, and they essentially were talking about the discrepancies between approved development and approved school plans, as well as money to relieve our horribly overcrowded schools. it was disheartening to see the commissioners... a board of slack-jawed, glassy-eyed good ole' boys just appear to drown out everything the school board and the concerned parents were saying. i kept saying to myself... only 13 more years... only 13 more years...

Awwww, congrats mom and dad! I remember my girls' first day of kindergarten like it was yesterday! When will she start? September or earlier?

I'm on my school board, and I'm glad we don't have to attend school district board meetings, talk about county! I can't imagine. I feel for you.

My 'baby' is turning 10 in two weeks. Seems like just yesterday she was starting Kindergarten, and here she is, finishing up 4th grade. It's amazing.

I hope she has a good school to attend, with good teachers who will appreciate her, and that she LOVES it. :)

OK, since I'm new to your blog, I went to your sidebar and looked at a post from last fall, when your son drew a monster trying wine. TOO FUNNY! :) You are blessed with two talented kids there. (I saw the one with the puppies wrapped in tape, too...)

They kind of reminded me of the post I did on my daughter earlier this month... http://yummywc.blogspot.com/2006/03/pining.html

thank you, j, for your encouragement! we love our school, and that's why i have to be vigilant with the school board and local politics... they're talking redistricting. my favorite post of yours is the one with the photo of your newborn daughter and the photo of her now, and you said..."they look the same to me." isn't that the truth!

i love reading and looking at other kids' art and stories, too. they're just so uninhibited and fresh.
